Modern child and youth media protection for educational practice

Digital media offer children and young people space for exchange, creativity, play and entertainment. At the same time, there are risks and influences that can impair or endanger their development.

How can children and young people be supported in using digital media in an age-appropriate and carefree way? What responsibilities do providers have? How can parents and professionals be supported in their educational mission? You can discuss these and other questions with experts from the Federal Center for Child and Youth Media Protection (BzKJ) and the participants of the event series.

Current youth media protection is legally based on the Digital Services Act (DSA), the Youth Protection Act (JuSchG) and the Interstate Treaty on the Protection of Minors in the Media (JMStV). It provides for numerous measures to counter these threats. The overriding aim is to enable children and young people to use the media consciously and to be able to take advantage of the opportunities that digital participation offers children and young people.

The online workshop with Lisa Keimburg from the Federal Center for Child and Youth Media Protection (BzKJ), Silja Krieger and Niklas Schmidt from the Office for the Enforcement of Children's Rights in Digital Services (KidD) provides an overview of these measures. It explains mechanisms that particularly affect the reality of use by children and young people. The workshop will begin with an introductory presentation. In addition to a joint discussion round at the end, there will also be room for questions.

Participation is free of charge. Registration is possible via this link.
