There is currently an intense debate about whether and how social media for children and young people should be more strictly regulated or even restricted. Calls for age limits or social media bans stand alongside the question of how young people can be better protected and supported online. However, one perspective is often neglected in these debates: that of the young people themselves.
In the first NETTZ.Gespräch 2026 on March 25, young people will come together to share their experiences with social media and discuss them with the audience. It will address questions such as: What problems do young people experience in digital spaces and what added value does social media have for them? How do they view possible bans? What needs to change on platforms, what support services are needed? Who is responsible for safe and fair digital spaces?
Speakers:
- Lilo Kranich, Coordinator for Public Relations at the Berlin State Students' Committee
- Amin Baahmed, actor & editor
- Sophie Becker, klicksafe youth advisory board
- Greta Bernstone, JUUUPORT
Moderation: Luisa Schmidt (Das NETTZ)
Registration is possible until March 24 under this link. The event will take place online via Zoom.
