#MediaConnect: Christmas time is media time - between favorite games, apps and influencers

How (grand)parents and children use digital media and what they can learn from each other

The pre-Christmas period is about to begin and it's getting colder outside. That's when we like to crawl inside for some cozy media time with good-smelling cookies and hot cocoa. We sometimes spend a lot of time there surfing, gaming, watching our favorite influencers, scrolling through social media or simply watching series. What exactly do we do online? What do we enjoy? And what worries us more?

Children and adults often use media differently - but there are also many things they have in common. We want to get to know these by talking to each other and shed light on the views of young and old. Everyday discussions about the use of digital media are often neglected in families. However, media use is not a topic of conversation. As a result, accusations are sometimes quickly made or arguments arise.

The new MeetUp format from klicksafe and the FSM (Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle Multimedia-Diensteanbieter e.V. - Voluntary Self-Regulation of Multimedia Service Providers) aims to focus on discussions about media use between children, young people and (grand)parents. The aim is to listen and understand: How do you deal with digital media? How can we spend media time together? What tips and ways are there for us to feel safe and secure online as a family?

We therefore cordially invite you to spend an hour and a half at the Media:TURM Ludwigshafen to consciously take some time to talk about digital media together.

Who will be at the MeetUp: Pamela Heer, media literacy officer from the EU initiative klicksafe

In the new online format of klicksafe and the Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle Multimedia-Diensteanbieter (FSM e.V.), we would like to promote the exchange about media use between children, teenagers and (grand)parents. The aim is to listen and understand.
