Even though smartphones have become an integral part of our everyday lives, parents still want to be digital role models for their children. Trust, communication and a secure bond form the basis of every upbringing. This also applies to digital media, where parents no longer necessarily have a head start in terms of knowledge. Under these conditions, how can we succeed in protecting children and young people from dangers and educating them to become self-determined media users?

The two experts Katherine Zimmermann and Thomas Feibel explore this question in an interview.  KatherineZimmermann is a freelance coach for families in a relationship-strong digital media world. She describes herself as a media optimist and has the motto "Unplugging is no solution either".  Thomas Feibel is head of the Office for Children's Media and founder of the German Children's Software Award TOMMI. As a leading journalist in the field of "children and digital media", he has already published several guidebooks.

The discussion will be moderated by journalist and project manager for ARD children's programs, Katharina Krüger: "How our children use the media holds up a mirror to us as adults. We can learn a lot about ourselves."
