Keeping children safe online - discovering the internet together

Parents' evening (Online)

Does your child often watch videos on YouTube, enjoy playing games on the internet, perhaps already has their own smartphone and is constantly messaging others via WhatsApp? The internet is an integral part of our children's lives. They are fascinated by the possibilities this medium offers. For you as parents, this is certainly not always unproblematic: How do we want to deal with our children's media use? What do children need to know when they are online? How do we react if something happens to our child online?

The Mediatope Mecklenburg-Vorpommern would like to invite you to join other parents in discussing issues relating to media education. The series of quarterly online parents' evenings is intended to provide concrete suggestions on how we can provide good support for children using the Internet, using concepts and materials from the media literacy initiative "Internet-ABC" as an example. A parents' evening will be organized for each of the four Internet ABC learning modules. We will start on 28.02.2024 with the first topic "Surfing and the Internet - how the Internet works".  The dates for the other parents' evenings "Have your say and join in - get active yourself", "Watch out for the dangers! - How to protect yourself" and "Reading, listening, watching - media on the Internet" will follow soon.
