Influence, potential and risks of (generative) AI in the everyday lives of young users

At the latest since the publication of the chatbot ChatGPT, the topic of "artificial intelligence" has moved into the public consciousness. Many parents are wondering how children and young people can learn how to use artificial intelligence safely. The presentation offers an insight into how algorithms influence the everyday lives of young people and explains the particular challenges and risks associated with artificial intelligence. The focus here will primarily be on the forms of artificial intelligence that can be used to create texts, images and videos. The topic of how the young generation is influenced by targeted misinformation will also be examined. The presentation will show how parents can support their children and help them to deal with this. 

Dominique Facciorusso (communication scientist, M.A.) is a consultant for media literacy at the EU initiative klicksafe. The initiative is aimed at people who support children and young people in using the internet safely. To this end, it provides an overview of current online topics as well as specific tips for everyday digital life.

The event is part of the "Marburg-Biedenkopf Parents' Academy". In the "Elternakademie Marburg-Biedenkopf", the adult education center offers digital learning and information events specifically for parents in a broad cooperation with regional players from the school sector in the district. Cooperation partners are the Marburg-Biedenkopf state education authority, the district parents' council, the Kirchhain media center and the district of Marburg-Biedenkopf in its role as school authority.
