ARD Youth Media Day 2025
Livestream
Wednesday, 12th of November 2025
08:30-13:30

On November 12, from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm , ARD is offering a free livestream for schools at the Youth Media Day. Presenters such as Leonie Maderstein (SWR), Šejla Begović (BR) and Jan Schipmann (funk) will discuss with exciting guests from politics, media and science. They will address questions such as: What does co-determination mean? How does social media influence opinion-forming? And how can young people become active themselves? There will also be professional tips against fake news and polarized ForYouPages.
The concept is based on the suggestions of a youth editorial team. In two workshops, 70 young people developed topics for the interactive livestream, wrote down their preferred guests and suggested formats. One thing was particularly important to the youth editorial team: young people should be given the opportunity to express themselves - whether in surveys or in conversations. They should also expand their knowledge in a playful way.
Procedure of the ARD Youth Media Day
There are seven 45-minute digital school lessons, each dealing with different aspects of the topic "Media, democracy & you". The first session of the digital school day starts at 8:30 am. School classes can register for one or more sessions free of charge. The seven sessions complement each other, but do not build on each other. The individual school lessons will follow on from each other as they will be broadcast live on ARD alpha. It is recommended not to follow more than three sessions with one class.
