Media Literacy Strengthens Democracy – For Participation, Alliances, and Active Engagement
Human rights, fundamental democratic values, and the culture of public debate are coming under increasing pressure—including in the digital sphere. The 43rd Forum on Communication Culture provides a space for exchange, participation, and the transfer of knowledge from academia to practice. Through a variety of formats—including discussions, seventeen workshops, working groups, open spaces, and expert presentations—key issues related to the forum’s theme will be explored.
klicksafe will have a booth at the “Market of Opportunities” on Saturday (1:30–2:30 p.m.). Here, interactive materials on deepfakes, cyberbullying, and democracy can be tested for use in educational settings. The klicksafe Youth Panel will also participate on Saturday (11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.) as part of the roundtable discussion “Have a Say. Help Shape. Help Decide. Young Perspectives on Media Education That Strengthens Democracy.” The panel will focus on young people’s perspectives on the conditions necessary for successful participation, on the role of adults and institutions, and on the alliances needed so that young people can help shape digital public spheres and effectively counter anti-democratic developments.
