Tasks for media education in times of podcasts, political influencers and AI content
News feeds, reels, podcasts or AI-generated content - we live in a time in which news is coming at us in an unprecedented variety and speed. Social media is becoming the arena of modern journalism: traditional news providers are developing new formats for young target groups, political influencers are providing their followers with information and influencing the opinions of young people. The socio-political relevance of various players on social media is evident in light of recent election results. Young people in particular are faced with the challenge of finding their bearings in this sea of news and at the same time not losing interest in serious news. News avoidance in particular is a problem that media education must address if we want to ensure the preservation of a functioning democracy. The central question is therefore: How do we reach young people with good journalistic news?
The 29th symposium of the Forum Medienpädagogik offers answers to these and other questions. At the conference, our experts will shed light on the opportunities and challenges of modern news dissemination and present practical approaches, e.g. for innovative formats that reach young people and sensitize them to reliable news. In addition to exciting presentations and discussions, various information stands and an ideas exchange during the breaks will offer the opportunity to exchange ideas and explore the conference topic in greater depth.
klicksafe will be represented at the panel on "Strong media literacy - strong democracy: What can educators do to promote young people's news literacy?" . And we have lots of materials with us.
