School social work

In cooperation with the subject teachers, school social work introduces the basics of media ethics to the 5th grade. The aim of the events (4 times 2 lessons) is to work with the children to develop rules for their (chat) behavior. Children's rights form the basis.
The children reflect on what they can use media for, what their advantages are, but also where dangers lurk. The children work out together what is allowed, what is not allowed, deal with cyberbullying and are also made aware of criminal content in order to sensitize them to the fact that actions online can have consequences in real life and that the protection of harmed persons - especially at school - is of great importance.
The parents of the 5th grade learn in a protected class group, on a parent information evening, what their children have worked out (presentation of the rules, posters on various messengers). Parents are particularly sensitized to the topics of cyberbullying and cybergrooming and are given a space in which they can exchange ideas. The aim is to sensitize parents to the fact that children still need a lot of support at a young age in order to develop their media skills and that parents play an important role in media education and also bear responsibility for what their children do online. The aim is to resolve the tension between parents and school - who is responsible for media education - and to create scope for action.
