Some time ago, people were still saying: "It is impossible to imagine our world without media". Now we actually have to sharpen up this statement: "AI permeates and has a lasting influence on our entire lives". Not always visibly, but at the latest when you add the aspect of algorithms - without a doubt. One special feature is that AI-generated media is used to steer our opinion(s) in a certain direction. Fake news has taken on a quality that is so convincing that it is increasingly difficult, sometimes even impossible, to detect. We must prepare for a future in which digital media can no longer be used as a source or proof of information.

What impact will this have on our society? And how can we currently teach skills in child and youth welfare that prepare for such a development?

This Focus Time is entitled:
Reality 2.0: What remains true when AI changes everything.

How is artificial intelligence changing the credibility of media? And how can we still find ways to recognize facts in a world manipulated by AI?

During the online event, examples will be used to present the current technical status of AI-generated photos and videos. On closer inspection, the vision of a post-factual society becomes more and more possible. But even if this future scenario is somewhat frightening, there are several approaches to counteract this development and preserve facts as such.

FOKUS TIME provides an insight and suggestions on what can be done in an educational context and what is important now and in the future.

As always, FOKUS TIME serves to gain insights into a topic of (media) education within a short period of time and to enter into a professional exchange.
