A comment in a chat, sending special memes or searching for like-minded people. These are all ways in which people with mental health issues draw attention to themselves online. Moderators, administrators and community managers are often the first point of contact for users of their communities when they are not feeling well. They therefore play an important role in reaching people in need of support at a low threshold.
Mental stress, both acute and chronic, encourages the development of addictive behavior. For this reason, the Addiction Prevention Center in the state of Berlin is offering an event for moderators, administrators and community managers as well as other interested persons for the first time as part of Safer Internet Day (11.2.2025). This event will discuss topics such as early detection, protective factors and options for action relating to mental health.
