Can digital channels have an impact on democracy?
The storming of the Capitol in Washington in 2021 or the congressional grounds in Brazil in 2023 show that social media can be misused as a platform for anti-democratic calls.
On Friday, February 14, Severino Ferreira da Silva and Christian Gisinger will give an overview of how information spreads via the internet and how forums and communities use these channels to win over large numbers of people for their goals. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in hybrid form at the Evangelische Arbeitsstelle Bildung und Gesellschaft and via the video conferencing tool ZOOM. Anyone who would like more information on algorithms, filter bubbles and virality is cordially invited to attend. To register, please contact Sandra Hauser by email at sandra.hauser@evkirchepfalz.de or call 0631 3642-103. Information at www.evangelische-arbeitsstelle.de.
