Plain language was originally developed to make important information accessible to people with learning disabilities and to promote their participation in social life. But plain language reaches many more target groups, including, for example, people with concentration difficulties, AD(H)S, mental illness and, last but not least, people who do not (yet) speak German well. The interpersonal component should also not be forgotten: comprehensible communication not only conveys important factual information, it also creates social closeness and greater acceptance of the content conveyed. It is clear that addiction support can benefit enormously from plain language. As part of the "Digital Participation in Balance" project, the Hessische Landesstelle für Suchtfragen e.V. (HLS) and webcare+ are offering an intensive workshop on media addiction and plain language on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. "Digitale Teilhabe in Balance" is linked to the webcare+ platform and aims to provide information on media literacy, media addiction and self-help in plain language. The project is run by the HLS in cooperation with the Techniker Krankenkasse in Hesse.
