The Stadtlabor zu Besuch stops off at the nationwide Safer Internet Day program "Sicherheit im Netz".

The internet has become an integral part of our everyday lives - we research, communicate and obtain information online every day. However, the ease with which content is disseminated has a dark side: In addition to reliable information, there are also targeted false reports, manipulated images and misleading messages. To navigate the digital world safely, it is crucial to distinguish fact from fiction. Those who critically scrutinize backgrounds, intentions and sources can expose deepfakes, disinformation and conspiracy theories - and retain control over their own digital knowledge.

After a short keynote speech on extremism, populism, deepfakes and misinformation - especially in the context of the upcoming federal elections - there will be an interactive workshop "Qapito! Critically evaluate sources" will take place. You will also learn about useful fact-checking platforms.

"Qapito!" was developed by Ruhr-Universität Bochum with funding from the Deutsche Telekom Foundation as an open educational resource.

A cooperation between the adult education center, city library and Smart City Innovation Unit. In 2025, the series "Security on the Net" will take place as part of the annual theme "Security" on the way to the House of Knowledge.
