Social media and AI-generated content have become an integral part of the everyday lives of children and young people. However, they are particularly susceptible to manipulation and misinformation. Recent studies show that even adults have great difficulty distinguishing AI-generated deepfakes from real videos - especially if they confirm their own political views. "Our personal attitude and even the device on which we watch the video have a significant influence on whether we can recognize fakes," explains Prof. Dr. Stefan Sütterlin, cyberpsychologist at the Faculty of Computer Science. Together with qualified educationalist Michael Malina from the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences, he will provide insights into the latest developments in AI-generated media and show ways in which children and young people can be empowered in dealing with them.
