Debunking disinformation and conspiracy narratives + and recognizing the potential and dangers of AI!
Real or fake - how can disinformation and conspiracy narratives be recognized? What makes them different, what are the intentions behind them and what can be done about them? Young people get to grips with the mechanisms of digital opinion-forming and learn to critically scrutinize information from the internet. AI can be used to produce convincing texts and authentic images - even personalized ones. How can we trust our ears, eyes and common sense in the future?
Day 1: The importance of serious news and the power of false reports
- Media work "Media productions and the creation of illusions": Trickery with the camera, introduction to the topic of traditional manipulation mechanisms
- Presenting my school/my youth center in a positive/negative light - Creating short videos in group work
- What do I think about the news (news self-test)?
- Disinformation and conspiracy narratives in the internet age: information, discussion, kahoot quiz on the topic of disinformation / opinion making / how do I recognize false reports?
Day 2: AI in the field of tension between opportunities and dangers
- Media work: Who's the coolest - Fake it for all it's worth: Creating fake photos with the greenbox (or virtual travel to distant countries)
- From filters to deep fakes: possibilities of image manipulation
- New challenges through AI: Trying out and critically scrutinizing the potential of AI image generators in practice (media work with Stable Diffusion)
