Pupils in Year 7 not only learn what fake news actually is, why it spreads so quickly and how to recognize it, but also become fake news checkers themselves. In a practical work phase, the aim is to check the truthfulness of prescribed news items using various tools, such as reverse image searches or researching the author. At the end of the project, all the girls and boys go home with the knowledge that they should not believe everything they see and hear and, above all, not share it without reflection. Exaggerated and sensationalist news on the internet, in newspapers and the like should always be viewed with caution and critically scrutinized.
