Electronic patient file

It has been available since January 15, 2025: the electronic patient file (ePA) for all people with statutory health insurance in Germany. To mark Safer Internet Day (SID), Digitalkompass Dithmarschen is hosting a digital get-together at Offener Kanal Westküste on Tuesday, February 11. SID is celebrated worldwide to promote the safe and responsible use of digital technologies. The topic is fitting as the ePA is not only a step forward for healthcare, but also an example of secure digital innovation.

The ePA can be a building block for making medical treatment more efficient and faster. But what exactly is behind it? How does it work and how can you benefit from it?
