Media skills are a key qualification today. In the current school year, the new subject of computer science and media education was introduced at all secondary schools in Baden-Württemberg. A subject that should cover a lot: Education about AI, fake news, echo chambers, hate speech, democracy education. But is it even possible? And how can parents and teaching staff be better supported and assisted?
Two experts talk about the topic at Reutlingen City Library. Florian Nuxoll is a secondary school teacher and is developing teaching materials for the new subject of media education as a research assistant at the University of Tübingen. In his podcast "Doppelstunde", he talks about the opportunities and risks of digitalization in schools. Sabina Paries is a photographer and expert in visual literacy and media education. In workshops and lectures, she develops teaching materials and teaches visual literacy to multipliers and children and young people.
For parents, teachers and anyone interested in media education.
Admission is free.
