International Day against Bullying and Cyberbullyingklicksafe and the "Nummer gegen Kummer" offer support for those affected, teachers and parents

Cyberbullying remains at a high level among young people aged between 14 and 17. Many of those affected remain without help. The #SagtNichtNichts initiative by Aktion Mensch and "Nummer gegen Kummer" is breaking the silence about bullying. The occasion is the International Day against Bullying and Cyberbullying, on which klicksafe and "Nummer gegen Kummer" offer support for those affected, teachers and parents.

Ludwigshafen/Wuppertal, 06.11.2025 | Cyberbullying is still a major problem among young people. The latest Sinus Study 2024/2025 shows that 16% of 14 to 17-year-olds have already been victims of cyberbullying themselves, and more than half (53%) know someone who has been affected.

Particularly alarming: a quarter of those affected (25%) stated that they had not received any help in this stressful situation. The reasons for this are varied and have not yet been sufficiently researched. There may be a lack of confidants or a lack of local support. However, feelings of hopelessness or shame can also lead to existing help not being taken up.

Education and prevention are key

The results of the study clearly show how important it is to bring the issue of cyberbullying into the public eye. Only if children and young people are aware of the different forms of cyberbullying can they recognize it and react appropriately. It is also crucial that those affected know where they can find support and that they can confide in others about their situation.

Classmates or teachers can also seek help to create a climate that protects those affected and shows perpetrators where their boundaries lie. Bullying is based on a triangle of perpetrator - victim - witness. It has an impact on everyone involved and influences the "social climate" and the community in the school or institution. Prevention must therefore be addressed and prioritized early on. With "Stop Bullying", the new serious game to raise awareness of bullying for young people, klicksafe offers an active educational approach to teach social action skills.

For more awareness: The international day against bullying and cyberbullying

Today's day of action was created to raise awareness of the growing problem of bullying and cyberbullying and to draw more attention to existing support services. klicksafe and the "Nummer gegen Kummer" support this cause.

klicksafe offers comprehensive information, materials and tips for parents, teachers and young people on the topic. The focus is on approaches for preventing and intervening in cyberbullying.

"Cyberbullying often takes place in the school context. That's why it's important to start right there. With our materials and campaigns, we support educational professionals preventively and when necessary and give parents helpful tips on how they can support their children," explains Deborah Woldemichael, Head of the EU initiative klicksafe.

The "Nummer gegen Kummer" offers children, young people and parents confidential and anonymous advice - including on the subject of cyberbullying.
As part of Aktion Mensch's #SagtNichtNichts initiative, the social organization and "Nummer gegen Kummer" are working together to break the silence about bullying. The two partners want to encourage young people in particular to speak openly about their experiences of bullying and exclusion and support them in their search for help. "Our low-threshold counseling services make it easier to seek help. During counseling, those affected can experience relief in a situation that often seems hopeless and their existing resources are strengthened," explains Anna Zacharias, Managing Director of Nummer gegen Kummer e. V. You can find more information about the initiative of the two partners at: www.aktion-mensch.de/mobbing.
