Press releaseklicksafe receives Comenius EduMedia Award 2024

klicksafe, together with ZDF and the Rhineland-Palatinate consumer advice center, receives the coveted EduMedia medal and seal at the prestigious Comenius EduMedia Awards. The award went to the "Young Crime" format with the episode "Abzocke im Netz" including the accompanying klicksafe teaching material. In the ZDFtivi format, fictionalized cases of youth crime are re-enacted and judged by a jury of young people.

Ludwigshafen, 17.06.2024 | What are typical juvenile crimes? What are the stories behind the crimes? How do the victims fare? And how do young people themselves judge them? The ZDFtivi format "Young Crime" explores these questions. klicksafe supports the format with media education expertise and suitable teaching materials. Together with ZDF and the Rhineland-Palatinate Consumer Advice Center, klicksafe has now been awarded the EduMedia Medal as part of the European Comenius EduMedia Award 2024 for the material for the episode "Abzocke im Netz".

The award-winning episode is about a case of online shopping fraud by a young person. In the teaching unit, the pupils receive information about fake stores and learn about protective measures in the form of a checklist. At the end, the decisions on a possible sentence for the young people in the classroom are compared with the assessment of the juvenile experts and the juvenile court judge in the studio and the real sentence is shown.

Involving those affected in dealing with juvenile delinquency
"We would like to thank ZDF and the RLP consumer advice center for their excellent professional and cooperative collaboration in the sense of contemporary education for young people at eye level," explains Deborah Woldemichael, head of the EU initiative klicksafe. "It is important that we address the dangers on the Internet on a broad social basis and actively involve young people as those affected in the educational processes," she adds.

Comenius EduMedia Award has been presented since 1995
The Comenius EduMedia Award is presented annually by the Gesellschaft für Pädagogik, Information und Medien e. V. (GPI). Around 150 manufacturers, publishers, projects and authors from several European countries submitted their digital educational products in 2024, 14 of which were awarded one of the coveted EduMedia medals. The GPI has been promoting outstanding digital educational media with the award since 1995. The entries and media must be designed and realized according to pedagogical, didactic, aesthetic and technical criteria in order to be eligible for the award. Digital media support teaching and learning not only in schools, but also at work, in training and further education, in culture and leisure, according to the GPI's credo for the award.
