CooperationBzKJ and klicksafe join forces for strong child and youth media protection

The Federal Agency for the Protection of Children and Young People in the Media (BzKJ) and klicksafe are intensifying their cooperation: From January 2026, the partnership will be placed on a new basis, financially supported by the BzKJ. The aim of the cooperation is to strengthen guidance for parents, educational professionals and children and young people in the digital space and to provide them with effective support on digital issues.

The focus of the joint work is on practical, low-threshold and target group-oriented offers that support parents, educational professionals and children and young people in recognizing digital risks and dealing competently with media. To this end, BzKJ and klicksafe are jointly developing materials, formats and campaigns on current challenges of child and youth media protection. Among other things, information series on current media phenomena, teaching and educational materials, digital school lessons and measures for youth participation are planned.

Isabell Rausch-Jarolimek, Head of the Department for the Further Development of Child and Youth Media Protection at the BzKJ, explains:

"Children and young people today grow up in digital environments as a matter of course. This makes it all the more important to support parents and professionals with reliable guidance and to empower young people themselves. With klicksafe, we share the common goal of implementing child and youth media protection in an understandable, practical and effective way.I am delighted that we are now consolidating our previous collaboration."

The cooperation builds on the respective expertise of both partners: While the BzKJ contributes its findings from its own test center for media harmful to minors and the ZUKUNFTSWERKSTATT, klicksafe has many years of experience in education and media education in the digital space.

Deborah Woldemichael, Head of the EU initiative klicksafe at the Rhineland-Palatinate Media Authority, adds:

"The consolidation of our cooperation is an important step towards strengthening media education and preventative youth media protection in the long term. I am delighted that, alongside the EU and the Rhineland-Palatinate Media Authority, the BzKJ is now also a mainstay of the nationwide klicksafe media literacy initiative. By working more closely together, we will jointly support young people, educators and pedagogical professionals with well-founded and comprehensive information and media education offers."

The public will be regularly informed about the results and focal points of the collaboration. Joint activities are planned as part of nationwide campaigns such as Safer Internet Day. With this three-year cooperation, BzKJ and klicksafe are sending a clear signal for strong, contemporary and networked media protection for children and young people in the digital media world.
