Brief description of the EU initiative klicksafe

klicksafe is the nationwide media literacy initiative for more safety online. klicksafe provides a wide range of services to help people use online media confidently and critically. At klicksafe.de, educational professionals, parents and interested users can find up-to-date information, tips on media education and a wide range of materials on digital services and topics. The EU initiative is politically and economically independent.

klicksafe is the German Awareness Centre in the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) of the European Union and is implemented by the Rhineland-Palatinate Media Authority (coordination) in cooperation with the Federal Agency for Child and Youth Media Protection (BzKJ). Since 2008, klicksafe has also coordinated the Safer Internet Center DE, which includes the internet hotlines of eco, FSM and jugendschutz.net as well as the helpline Nummer gegen Kummer.

Safer Internet Day

The Safer Internet Day (SID) is a global day of action for more online safety and a better Internet for children and young people. It has been held annually since 2004. In Germany, Safer Internet Day is coordinated by the EU initiative klicksafe. All press releases, statements and materials on Safer Internet Day can be found in the press kit.
