USK & Digital Games Culture FoundationVideo games parent guide now also available in Turkish, Arabic and English

Digital games offer entertainment for the whole family and at the same time promote creativity as well as social and communication skills. However, as with any other medium, there are aspects that parents should pay attention to in order to enable their children to play games safely and responsibly. In order to better support parents in this complex media world, the Entertainment Software Self-Regulation Body (USK) has developed a parents' guide in cooperation with the Digital Games Culture Foundation. This is now available in German, Turkish, Arabic and English.

Many parents feel unsure about how to deal with digital games. They wonder what content is suitable, how much playing time is acceptable and what risks exist online. They are particularly concerned about issues such as in-game purchases, violent content and contact with strangers in online games. The parents' guide "Games? Na sicher!" offers them practical guidance, information and concrete tips for an age-appropriate and competent approach to digital games in everyday family life. The 52-page guide is divided into several sections. Among other things, it deals with the general use of games in the family, the selection of suitable games and technical protection for games.

With the multilingual edition of the parents' guide, the USK and the Digital Games Culture Foundation aim to further improve access to information about games and the protection of minors. The aim is to reach as many families as possible at a low-threshold level and support them in helping their children to play digital games safely and competently.

To accompany the parents' guide, the USK also offers clear explanatory films that present key content in an understandable way and provide parents with practical support in media education: www.usk.de/erklaerfilme
