Rules instead of bans - Into the new school year with the Handysektor smartphone agreement
Controversial discussion - the smartphone in school
For some it's hard to imagine life without it, for others it's a "no-go": cell phones have always been a contentious issue. They are a nuisance due to vibrating and ringing, distract from lessons and are therefore usually banned. On the other hand, modern smartphones can be practical helpers and, with the right apps , enrich lessons in multimedia terms with digital flashcards, interactive periodic tables or particularly unusual projects such as the smartphone microscope.
Handysektor is discussing with young people how to find the right middle ground here. In a social media campaign on Instagramfrom September 20, students from the Handysektor Instagram community will be called upon to submit their suggestions for smartphone rules at school. These will be put up for discussion online, and from the best ideas the Handysektor editorial team will draw up a list of rules that will be published online in early October.
Smartphone ban? Smartphone agreement!
To ensure thatrules are adhered to at school, broad acceptance is needed among all those involved - especially on such a hotly debated topic. To this end, Handysektor has created a guide to help schools introduce a cell phone agreement. The special feature: The guide is explicitly aimed at young people and encourages them to initiate the introduction of rules themselves.
Together with teachers, school administrators and parents, an agreement can be reached on how the smartphone may be used and what restrictions apply. One possibility, for example, is that the smartphone may only be used in class with the express permission of the teacher and must otherwise be stored in a smartphone box. It is also important that the rules apply to everyone - including adults. These and other tips can be found at www.handysektor.de.
