About Safer Internet Day 2026New klicksafe parent brochure: My child and AI. Growing up with artificial proximity.

With the new klicksafe parent guide "My child and AI. Growing up with artificial closeness", which was created in cooperation with Nummer gegen Kummer e.V., we are focusing on AI chatbots and so-called AI companions in media education. These artificial systems are programmed to build relationships with humans and simulate emotional exchange. Among other things, the brochure sheds light on how ideas of friendship, love and emotional support can change through the use of AI. It also explores the question of whether and how young people can be emotionally influenced by AI bots. In addition, the guide offers parents concrete support for media education with ten practical tips as well as impulse questions that promote dialog between parents and children. Finally, it contains a glossary with the most important terms relating to AI systems.
Parents play an important role in their children's interaction with AI applications. It is crucial that they actively engage with AI chatbots and AI companions and explore them together with their children. In this context, media education also means strengthening emotional skills.Parents can support their children in naming their own feelings, addressing insecurities and seeking help from trustworthy people - not from AI systems.
