More and more young people are turning to influencers to find out about current affairs. But what is really important and who decides? The browser-based media literacy game "Newsmakers" from planet schule is about how journalists select news. The free educational game and teaching materials are suitable for pupils from Year 8 upwards. A smartphone, tablet or PC is required. The game can be played without installing an app.

In the browser-based serious game "Newsmaker", young people slip into the role of news editors and decide on various reports: What information is relevant? Is the source serious or is it fake news?

In a playful and interactive dialog with editor Lena, the young people learn how journalists work, how important it is to critically question information, checksources and why it makes sense to seek advice from specialist editorial offices when dealing with complex topics.

The educational game is suitable for pupils in grades 8 to 13 - whether as a substitute lesson or as part of a series of lessons on the topics of news, disinformation, media impact and sources of information. The news maker can be played on a smartphone, tablet or PC. The device must be connected to the internet; it is not necessary to install an app or log in to the website.
