"Don't put off your responsibility!"klicksafe supports campaign against sexual violence with new brochure for parents
Sexually harassing communication, cybergrooming or unwanted exposure to pornography and images of abuse - children today are not only affected by sexual violence in the analog world. They also experience various forms of digital sexual violence online. A new brochure from the BMFSFJ, UBSKM and klicksafe provides parents and guardians with important information and tips on the question: "The first smartphone - how can I protect my child from sexual violence on the internet?". The brochure helps parents to deal with the risks of digital sexual violence against children at an early stage. Many practical tips show how sensible media education can help protect children from digital sexual violence.
The brochure is part of a series of booklets as part of the "Don't shirk your responsibility!" campaign. The new brochure is now available as a PDF for free download from klicksafe and on the campaign website. The brochure was developed by klicksafe together with the Independent Commissioner for Child Sexual Abuse Issues (UBSKM) and the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs (BMFSFJ).
Note: The print version of the brochure will be published in the next few weeks and can then be ordered both on the campaign website and from klicksafe.
Information on the "Don't shirk your responsibility!" campaign
"Look - Listen - Ask." This is the appeal of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs (BMFSFJ) and the Independent Commissioner for Child Sexual Abuse Issues (UBSKM) as part of the nationwide campaign to protect children and young people against sexual violence. "Don't shift your responsibility!" is the continuation of the "Don't push your thoughts away!" campaign, which was initiated last year by the BMFSFJ and UBSKM. In the first phase, information was provided about the fact that sexual violence against children and young people often occurs in the personal environment and especially in the family. The sequel, "Don't shirk your responsibility!", empowers people who want to help to take action: What warning signs should we look out for? How can we talk to children? Where can we get help and advice? To help children, we need to know what we can do. "No child or young person can protect themselves alone: We adults have a responsibility here," says abuse officer Kerstin Claus.
