Personal, low-threshold and close to everyday lifeJUUUPORT optimizes consulting services and launches podcast

The usage habits of young people are constantly evolving. For example, voice messages have become an essential part of their communication. The JUUUPORT advice and information platform is adapting its services to this development by revamping the advice tool both technically and visually. A new podcast with the JUUUPORT scouts has also been launched.

Counseling has been at the heart of the JUUUPORT peer-to-peer project since it was founded in 2010. Here, teenagers and young adults help their peers personally with problems on the Internet. Accordingly, the service is regularly reviewed to ensure that it remains relevant to young people.

The new advice system offers the following advantages:

  • Close to everyday life thanks to the chat interface
  • Low-threshold thanks to voice message option
  • Intuitive use
  • Optimization for mobile devices
  • New, fresh design

The scouts introduce themselves personally to those seeking advice and write an individual response. In this way, JUUUPORT consciously sets itself apart from AI-based services and continues to focus on person-to-person advice. A chatbot is only used as a support before the actual consultation to inform young people immediately after sending the question that their message has been received and when they can expect an answer, among other things.

JUUUPORT scout Carla reports: "We accompanied and tested the development of the new counseling tool. It is now even more self-explanatory to use, and not just for those seeking advice. There are also new functions for us that make our voluntary advice work in the background much easier."

JUUUCAST - the podcast by young people for young people

To coincide with the optimized counselling service, JUUUPORT has also launched a new podcast with the JUUUPORT scouts, which provides young people with lively and authentic monthly information on internet topics such as cyberbullying, sexting and data protection and keeps them up to date with the latest developments.

In each episode, at least one scout will talk about an online phenomenon together with a teamer and present an example of a request for advice. Young people will also be given tips for their own online behavior.

The first episode "What is JUUUPORT?" was published on 14.10.2024. Here, Scout Pascal presents the project together with media educator Ann-Kristin Gaumann.

JUUUPORT encourages young people to report illegal content

Children and young people can quickly come across problematic content on the internet, e.g. pornography, violence or hate speech. In order to protect them, it is important that this content is reported - including by young people themselves. JUUUPORT provides a low-threshold reporting form to report content that is harmful to young people or harmful to their development. All reports are sent directly to the responsible reporting offices of the German Safer Internet Center the internet-beschwerdestelle.de of eco/FSM and jugendschutz.net
