"No likes for lies!"Impressions from Safer Internet Day 2025

Safer Internet Day (SID) 2025 was celebrated worldwide on February 11. Together with the partners of the Safer Internet DE association, klicksafe is implementing the motto "No likes for lies! Recognize extremism, populism and deepfakes online" with a wide range of activities. With our digital school lesson, we were able to educate over 31,000 schoolchildren across Germany about right-wing extremist propaganda and disinformation online. In Berlin, we organized a dialogue panel with pupils, experts and Federal Minister for Family Affairs Lisa Paus. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this year's SID such a success. The SID may be over, but there are still many more activities throughout February. More than 300 campaigns were registered with klicksafe for the SID. In our article you will get impressions and an overview of this special day.

Digital school lesson at Media:TURM Ludwigshafen

The Digital School Lesson, which was streamed directly into classrooms by schools on Safer Internet Day, is brand new and a complete success. A total of 842 schools with 1,290 classes took part in this largest school lesson in Germany and were part of Safer Internet Day. This enabled us to raise awareness of right-wing extremist online strategies among over 31,000 pupils. In an interactive and practical way, we illustrated the social impact of manipulative disinformation and what they can do as individuals to combat it. Our experts from the German Safer Internet Center at klicksafe and jugendschutz.net provided the pupils with up-to-date knowledge and background information. The digital school lesson was recorded in cooperation withRheinpfalz in the Media:TURM of the Rhineland-Palatinate Media Authority. Many thanks to the pupils of IGS Ludwigshafen Gartenstadt as well as all pupils and the committed teachers nationwide for their active participation!

Specialist event on Safer Internet Day in Berlin

Another highlight was the exciting dialog panel on the SID motto at the Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium (KKG) in Berlin. KKG students were joined in the discussion by Lisa Paus, Member of the Bundestag and Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth; Theresa Lehmann, Amadeu Antonio Foundation; Deborah Woldemichael, EU initiative klicksafe; Martin Drechsler, Managing Director FSM and Gizem Çelik, Content Creator. The event was moderated by Polo Türk from rbb/Fritz-Radio and the board of Neue deutsche Medienmacher*innen. The panel was actively accompanied by questions and contributions from around 150 other KKG students in the room, who were also involved in the dialog via mentimeter.
