Tested and evaluated by young peopleRecommendations for good video games in "Digital games - pedagogically assessed"

The 35th edition of "Digitale Spiele - Pädagogisch beurteilt" provides parents with information on current video games for children and young people. The special feature is that young gamers from Spieleratgeber NRW have their say and present the results of their game tests. In addition to the official age rating from the USK, each game also comes with an educational recommendation as to which target group the game is suitable for. The current issue is already available for download and will soon be available to order via the website of the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.

For the 35th year now, children and young people from Cologne are testing the latest, most exciting and most important new releases on the gigantic digital games market. Under professional media-educational guidance, games are examined for their particular appeal, but also for their playability and, in particular, their suitability for the target age groups. What makes the latest releases or reissued "classics" particularly exciting, for whom are they perfectly suited and for whom might they be particularly challenging?

The current volume 35 provides parents and other interested parties with a helpful basis for discovering the world of digital games together with children and young people. As always, the focus is on around 60 reviews of video games that have been published in recent months. These are divided into the categories "Already for children", "Only for young people" and "Only for young people aged 16 and over".

This issue focuses on the Switch 2. The long-awaited new games console from industry giant Nintendo was released last year and immediately sold more copies than any other console before it. Now that the hype has died down a little, the young people from the editorial team at Spieleratgeber NRW take a sober look at the console and some of the games released so far under the title 'Nintendo Switch 2 - Between praise and criticism'.

Another focus topic is "Games & Democracy" and "Right-wing extremism in gaming". There is also a preview of some gaming highlights that the young editors are looking forward to in 2026.

The brochure is published in cooperation with the City of Cologne and Spieleratgeber-NRW and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth as part of the Initiative Gutes Aufwachsen mit Medien.

The brochure is available to download free of charge and can also be ordered free of charge as a printed version via the Federal Ministry's website.
