Safer Internet Day (SID) 2026 was celebrated worldwide on February 10. Together with the partners of the Safer Internet DE association, klicksafe is implementing the motto "AI and me. In an artificial relationship." with a wide range of offers. With our klicksafe school lesson, we were able to sensitize over 50,000 pupils throughout Germany at the SID. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this year's SID such a success! The SID may be over, but there are still many more events to come throughout February! Around 350 events have been registered with klicksafe so far. Take a look at our event overview to see which events are still taking place in the coming days and weeks.

klicksafe school lesson at Media:TURM Ludwigshafen

We were able to ring in our klicksafe school lesson for Safer Internet Day 2026 with a new record: Over 50,000 pupils from all over Germany and even from German-speaking countries were gathered in their classrooms at 10:00 a.m. to reflect with us on the topic "AI and me. In an artificial relationship". Social psychologist Paula Ebner (University of Duisburg-Essen) gave the pupils an insight into the current state of research on the topic of "human-chatbot relationships". Playback with questions on the topic of the school lesson from the young people from the klicksafe Youth Panel and the Youth Advisory Board of the Federal Center for Child and Youth Media Protection (BzKJ)brought in the perspectives of young people. And, of course, the schoolchildren on site and the many schoolchildren connected were also able to share their views through live surveys.

Following the klicksafe school lesson, young people from the klicksafe Youth Panel and the BzKJ Youth Advisory Boarddiscussed the topic with expert Paula Ebner and the pupils on site at the exclusive Inside Talk and shared their experiences and opinions on the topic. They made it clear how present AI bots already are today, where they see opportunities and where limits are necessary.

The klicksafe school lesson was recorded in cooperation with the BzKJ and the Rheinpfalz in the Media:TURM of the Rhineland-Palatinate Media Authority. We would like to thank the pupils of IGS Ludwigshafen Gartenstadt for their visit to the Media:TURM as well as all pupils and committed teachers nationwide for their active participation!

Web seminar of the Safer Internet DE association

On February 25, 2026 (14:00-15:00), our experts from the Safer Internet DE Association will be providing information in the web seminar "AI and me: Smart helpers or false friends? Chatbots as an opportunity and risk for children and young people", our experts from the Safer Internet DE Association will inform educational professionals, parents and other interested parties about the challenges of dealing with chatbots and AI systems. Experts from jugendschutz.net, eco, FSM, Nummer gegen Kummer e.V. and klicksafe will give you an overview of current developments and highlight (legal) challenges. In addition, concrete options for action for professionals, parents and institutions will be presented. Participation is free of charge.

Hundreds of events throughout Germany

Around 350 events and campaigns throughout Germany were registered for Safer Internet Day - more than ever before! Many of them took place on February 10.
