Digital well-beingDigital detox and conscious media consumption during Lent

Challenge 1: Your digital status quo
Before you start: Take a close look at how much and for what you use digital media.
To do for parents and children:
- Make a list of all the apps, websites and platforms you have used in the last few days.
- Write down what you use them for (entertainment, learning, social media, gaming, etc.).
- Ask yourself: What use is necessary? Where are you wasting too much time?
Challenge 2: Recognize yourselves
Here we go: How do you feel about your media use?
- Do you feel relaxed or rather stressed after your cell phone time?
- Do you find it difficult to simply put your cell phone down?
- Which apps or platforms help you - and which don't?
Tip: Talk about it with your family! Reflect on your behavior and support each other.
Challenge 3: Reduce digital stress
Digital media can be annoying - but why? Here are a few tips for more conscious use:
- Use technical aids: Set screen time, turn off push notifications.
- Clean out your cell phone together: Delete apps that distract you and offer no added value.
- Take a look at your social media feeds: Which accounts are good for you? Who can you unfollow?
- Enjoy offline time: Do something without your cell phone - as a family or with friends.
- Agree rules for fixed digital breaks.
Challenge 4: Time out from digital distractions
Did you know that platforms use autoplay and push messages to keep you hooked for as long as possible? This is called "nudging".
To do for you as a family: Set mobile-free zones & times! For example:
- At mealtimes - time for real conversations.
- In the bedroom - for better sleep.
- On the toilet - because it simply doesn't have to be.
- Conclusion: Less distraction, more real experiences! Join in - for a more relaxed Lent without digital overload.
