Data Protection Media Prize awarded
The Data Protection Media Award (DAME) of the Professional Association of Data Protection Officers of Germany (BvD) e.V. goes this year to the short film "Opportunities and Risks of Health Data" by Swiss media students Meret Kaufmann, Gion Hunziker and Nicolas Zürcher. In the future scenario, they tell the story of a young man who learns more about healthy living via fitness app and smartwatch, but at the same time gets to know the dark side of data collection. The DAME main prize was awarded for the second time and is endowed with 3,000 euros.
The two other entries nominated for the main prize each won 1,500 euros: The song "Spiel mit offenen Daten" ("Play with Open Data ") by Alex Döring took the 2018 DAME in the "Best Musical Contribution" category, while the ZDF online magazine "App+on" and editor Nadja Kronemeyer received the prize in the "Best Youth Contribution" category.
