Democracy education at school75 years of the Basic Law: Democracy training station for pupils

The teaching unit "Your constitution" from our #fitfordemocracy material makes pupils aware that our constitution is also there for them and takes their concerns into account. For values to actually be lived, they must be filled with meaning by the pupils themselves. School is a place where values must be taught and lived. Values education at school is primarily derived from the educational goals. Human dignity, freedom, equality, equal rights between men and women, justice, solidarity and inner and outer peace are particularly worthy of mention here. These values should therefore also be given great importance in lessons and school life.
The training station "Your constitution" can be found on page 17. The station is designed to take 25 minutes and requires a smartphone, tablet or PC as well as the internet, pen and paper to complete .
What can pupils expect in the lesson?
The students test their knowledge of the basic laws using a digital learning module in individual work. However, the exercise can also be carried out frontally on the projector. The task is to put the correct pairs together: Which picture goes with which basic law? Students can see whether the pairs belong together by clicking on the tick at the bottom right. They can separate the pairs again by clicking on the adhesive strip. Only when station 1 has been solved correctly do the pupils move on to station 2. They then discuss in the group which articles of the Basic Law are important to them. They also discuss the importance of Article 1 of the Basic Law.
