Our class chat rules - lesson

By the time they reach high school, many students have their own smartphones. Even if not all students own a device, there’s almost always a class chat group. The class chat serves as a platform for students to communicate, and the conversations often extend beyond school-related topics. A lack of netiquette and insufficient time or topic limits often lead to problems in class chat groups, such as cyberbullying or students feeling overwhelmed. The way students interact in the chat and any problems that arise can also negatively impact the classroom atmosphere.

To prevent these problems, rules for the class chat group can be established together with the students at the beginning of the school year. These rules should address not only what content is appropriate for the chat but also who is responsible for ensuring compliance with the rules and for imposing any necessary consequences. The results can be recorded on the poster titled “Our Rules for the Class Chat.”
