When text AIs such as ChatGPT emerged a few years ago, it was obvious that children and young people could use them for homework. What most people didn't think of back then was that these programs could also be used as friends or even partners. Increasingly, we are seeing children and young people using AI programs to simulate interpersonal interaction. We discussed the impact this could have on the development of children and young people with Markus Gerstmann. Among other things, he is an extracurricular educational consultant and board member of the Society for Media and Communication (GMK). To approach this topic, he conducted a self-experiment and entered into a relationship with a chatbot. This later resulted in the essay "A new love! Romantic chatbots between virtual closeness and loneliness - a discourse on media education".
