klicksafe asks... (17): How much outrage is good for us?
Content
The advent of the internet was associated with great expectations. Many people hoped that it would strengthen democratic diversity of opinion and bring the world closer together. However, if you look around the internet today, you may get the impression that the opposite has happened. In this episode, Prof. Dr. Hanna Klimpe explains why the powerful social media platforms have played a major role in this and what role the feeling of outrage plays. She is Professor of Social Media at the Hamburg University of Applied Wissenschaften and her lecture "Entpört euch! Channeling political anger more efficiently on social media (and in real life)" served as the occasion for our conversation.
