Everyone knows what the traffic light colors mean: Red means STOP, orange means WAIT, and green means GO.
The traffic light metaphor is meant to help young people better understand and set their own boundaries when it comes to sex. Only when your mind, gut, and body all say yes to sexual activity does your traffic light turn green, and you can take the next step.
The poster is part of the comprehensive teaching resource “Let’s Talk About Porn—Sexuality, Identity, and Pornography.” A completely revised version will be released for Safer Internet Day 2024, and it is already available for download as a PDF along with selected projects.
In “Let’s Talk About Porn,” the sex traffic light is presented as a method for a classroom lesson or as a suggestion for youth work. It was developed by sexologist Magdalena Heinzel and is suitable for working with young people ages 14 and up.
