Starting the New School Year with Media Literacy
A new school year often means new classes, new friendships, and new challenges. During the first few weeks of school, groups form anew, class chat groups are created, and communication often quickly shifts to messaging apps and other social media platforms.
The start of the school year therefore offers a good opportunity to talk with children and teens about using digital media in a respectful, safe, and responsible way. Educators and parents should proactively discuss digital topics and rules and promote media literacy in a sustainable way.
As part of our Back-to-School Campaign Month, we provide up-to-date materials, project ideas, information for parents, events, and other resources focused on a specific theme every year.
